typhoon's a little hard to pin down. it started as a recording project dreampt up by kyle morton, who had written an album's worth of material in his psu dorm room. kyle gathered his friends in salem to make the record a reality. the first typhoon album was recorded in the summer and winter of 2005. since then a few people have left and others have joined and the band has become much more of a collective, with creativity coming from all angles. the band has cultivated a high-energy live show that compliments their more nuanced recordings.
typhoon currently resides in the lovely portland, oregon and tours occasionally. members split time between work and school and about a dozen other bands, but always find time to gather together in the boy gorilla house basement and make the weird accident-miracle band that is typhoon happen. and if it looks like they're not playing for a while. fear not; it just means they're digging up something new.
